Need to shop for someone who loves tech gadgets this year? Or maybe it's time to reward yourself with something you have been eyeing at the electronics store. Either way, there are lots of cool items to choose from. Here at Nereus, our tech junkies keep an eye out for the latest trends in consumer electronics. Here is a look at a few of our favorites:
- HD media player. Store your HD content on a USB drive, connect it to the media player, connect the media player to your HDTV and voila! Watch HD movies, listen to music or display high resolution photos on your HDTV. Several companies now offer these players.
- Mini-notebook. Cheaper, smaller and lighter than a traditional notebook, these diminutive dynamos pack plenty of computing power with 1.6 -- GHz processors and 1 GB of RAM. At three to four pounds, mini-notebooks definitely pull their weight.
- High-Def camcorder. With several HD camcorders now under the $1000 mark, you no longer have to pay an arm and a leg for superior image quality. Tape, hard drive or flash, take your pick.
- Noise-cancelling headphones. True, these have been around awhile. But they just keep getting better and cheaper. And face it, the world just keeps getting noisier!
- E-book readers. These devices are still in the early adopter stage and have received mixed reviews. But talk about handy! Nowhere near a book store, but want to read a specific book? Just download it. Even the most discerning technophile on your list will be impressed.
