COTS Ecosystem Case Study

Coordinating with Multiple Organizations for a Successful Ecosystem Article

Client and Challenge:

The Communications Platforms Trade Association (CP-TA) is a global organization of communications platform and building block providers whose mission is to accelerate the adoption of SIG-governed, open specification based communications platforms by certifying interoperable building blocks.

CP-TA asked Nereus to help position the Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) ecosystem and AdvancedTCA industry in a better light, after an article came out the year before declaring that ATCA was obsolete. Nereus' goal was to rally key members of the COTS ecosystem to create an in-depth expose of the strength of the ATCA industry.

Solution:

Nereus leveraged its relationship with industry publication CommsDesign to pitch the ATCA piece, as the magazine had been interested in the ecosystem in the past. Nereus scheduled a briefing with the publication's editor, Carolyn Mathas and the CP-TA Marketing Chairman. Once this initial interaction took place Nereus discussed future options with the editor and secured a follow-up article that would focus on each of the five COTS ecosystem organizations.

Nereus worked closely with spokespeople from each of the organizations to manage the entire process. As part of this process, Nereus organized the schedules of all participants to have one pre-briefing meeting and schedule the briefing itself. Nereus created a background document for the editor%u2019s reference, as well as coordinated speaking points with each spokesperson.

Results:

As a result of Nereus' diligent work, CommsDesign conducted a panel style briefing. Each spokesperson was present and had the opportunity to explain what their group does and how it fits with the other four organizations.

When published in CommsDesign, the article drew positive attention to the ecosystem and provided the industry with a better understanding of how the COTS ecosystem organizations were collaborating to further the success of the ATCA industry.
